Electric driving is seeing a huge breakthrough. EVs are getting cheaper, there are more and more models, regulations are evolving and the charging infrastructure is gradually taking shape. With smart charging solutions and a unique energy controller, MobilityPlus is taking the lead in making the transition to electric driving a success. And we just received extra support to realise that ambition: an investor group has provided a capital injection of 1 million euros.
Our plan is clear: to continue our spectacular growth in Belgium and Luxembourg and launch MobilityPlus in France, Germany and the Netherlands.
Confidence in electric driving is increasing rapidly. We can also see this in our own figures: “Our turnover in 2020 was four times that of 2019,” says CEO and founder Jean-François Cheyns. “More and more companies are prioritising sustainable mobility, which means an increasing demand for smart charging infrastructure. Moreover, with our energy controller—that is unique on the Belgian market—we can provide companies with a handy tool to optimise their energy management.”
What does the energy controller do?
Big players such as EY, Umicore and Siemens are already benefiting from MobilityPlus' 24/7 service and technical expertise. And our list of clients is growing fast! This has not escaped the attention of one investor group, which includes Luc Opdebeeck (ex-HP), Fritz Mertens (ex-Petercam), Robert Decant (ex-ESAS) and Concentra. That is why they are injecting 1 million euros into MobilityPlus. We thank them for their confidence in our mission and strategy, and we are very happy to continue on our journey— but now with more clout!
The transition to electric mobility will be faster than many expect, believes Cheyns: “Not only because more and more companies are consciously choosing to make their fleet greener, but also because from 2026 only fully electric company cars will be tax deductible. Since most companies operate with a vehicle lease period of four years, many are already starting to electrify their fleet. And electric cars of course require efficient charging solutions.”
In order to optimally help companies realise their green ambitions, MobilityPlus plans to invest in its own growth. Cheyns: “Thanks to this first capital injection, we'll be able to strengthen our presence in the major Belgian cities and accelerate our start-up in neighbouring countries, all while continuing to innovate. To achieve this, we are looking for 10 new employees for different regions in Belgium: from installation engineers to business development managers. The first requirement for any potential candidate is a healthy dose of enthusiasm for building a sustainable world.”
