Since the introduction of the capacity tariff in Flanders, you no longer pay only for how much electricity you use, but also for your monthly peak power: the highest quarter-hourly power (kW) you draw from the grid in a month. The higher that peak, the higher the grid tariff on your bill.
And an electric car happens to be one of the biggest consumers in the home. Charging at home while the oven, heat pump and dishwasher are also running quickly creates a significant peak. The result? A higher bill, not because of what you charge, but because of when you charge.
Our HEMS (Home Energy Management System) continuously monitors your home's consumption and automatically adjusts your car's charging. In concrete terms:
This way, charging your car is never the cause of a high energy bill. You drive electric while keeping your peak, and therefore your grid tariff, under control.
Good news for drivers of an electric or plug-in hybrid fleet car: the electricity you charge at home for your company car is reimbursed by your employer. To calculate this simply and correctly, the FPS Finance uses the so-called CREG flat rate: a fixed amount per kWh, based on average energy prices per region, revised every quarter.
For the third quarter of 2026 (June to September), the following indicative rates apply:
| Region | CREG rate (€/kWh) |
|---|---|
| Flanders | 0,3222 |
| Brussels | 0,3719 |
| Wallonia | 0,3783 |
As long as the reimbursement does not exceed the rate for your region, it remains exempt from taxes and social contributions. The rates are adjusted every quarter.
You can always find the current CREG rate on the official CREG website: CREG rate for the reimbursement of home charging of company carsWith the right approach, home charging doesn't have to cost you anything extra, quite the opposite. The capacity tariff rewards those who spread their consumption smartly, and our HEMS takes care of that automatically. Combine that with the reimbursement at the CREG rate for fleet drivers, and electric driving becomes even more attractive.
